When you have kids, you always try to make meals and desserts more fun, that’s how I decided to try making these Mini Apple Pies. I basically used my Apple Crisp Pie Recipe, without the apple crisp on top, and made it into Mini Apple Pies. You could totally add the apple crisp on top of these Mini Apple Pies, it would be delicious, I just wanted to try something different.
Ingredients
500 grams of store bough pie dough
Flour to roll the dough.
6 cups of apples pealed, cored and cut into medium pieces. I used McIntosh but you can also use Granny Smith or Golden Delish.
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
A pinch of nutmeg
3 tablespoons of water
Instructions
On a flat surface, roll the dough using flour so the dough doesn’t stick.
Find a round plastic container, bowl or glass of about 4 1/4″ diameters.
Cut 12 round pieces in the dough.
Spray a muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Place your round pieces of dough in the muffin pan. Set aside.
Place the apples and the remaining ingredient in a large saucepan, and cook at medium heat until the apples start to soften, about 5 minutes.
Let the apples cool down a little bit, and separate them between the 12 mini pie shells.
You can cut strips of dough to place on top of your pies, or gently fold the dough over the apples (see picture below).
Cook in a preheated 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.
Let the pies cool down a little before you remove them from the muffin pan.
