Family Motherhood

My kids first day of school – 2015

Yesterday was the beginning of a new school year for my kids. I like to take my kids to school on their first day. I take lots of pictures, get to talk to them and reassure them while driving them in, and I get to meet their new teacher. It’s really important for me to be there for them on this big day.

It’s a lot less stressful for them to know that I’m there, and I feel a lot better when I leave knowing they found their group, they’ve met their teacher and their friends.

Two years ago, I was bringing my son and daughter to their first day of school, and a boy came out of the bus almost crying. He had no idea where to go, who his teacher was, and what his group number was. I went to see him, asked him what grade he was in, and brought him to his new group and teacher. I can only imagine how stressed that little boy must have been feeling inside. So I’ve decided to always bring my kids to school on their first day, and that until they graduate from college. Just joking LOL

I know it’s probably good for kids to learn to be independent and figure these things out by themselves, but there will be plenty of other opportunities for them to do that. I also know that for a lot of parents, it’s impossible to bring their kids to school on their first day because they work. I’m lucky to have the opportunity to do so.

So here are a few pictures of my kids first day of school:

Every year, the school has a theme for the year. Last year, it was Passion; everyone explored and got to know everyone else’s passion. My son’s passion is soccer and my daughter is horses. This year the theme is, Hero; be the hero of your success. That’s why my son has the Captain America shield. My daughter brought something in her bag but never took it out. Oh well!

This is a picture from their second day of school, while waiting for the bus.

I’m so lucky to have kids that really enjoy going to school. They were really anxious to learn and play with their friends. I’m also really happy to be back to our regular routine, hopefully less busy.
