A friend of mine made homemade hummus the other day and told me how delicious it was, so I asked her for the recipe. I hate it when you look at a recipe and you have to purchase an ingredient that you’ll probably only use to make that particular recipe. So I’ve decided to make my own Easy Hummus Recipe that doesn’t require any tahini. I call it my own recipe, because I did change a lot to my friend’s original recipe. I changed the quantities and added other ingredients to her recipe.
Ingredients
1 can of chick peas (540 ml) drained and rinsed
1 large clove of garlic
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
A pinch of salt
4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1/4 teaspoon of cumin
A handful of fresh cilantro (about 1/2 cup)
1/4 teaspoon of paprika
1/2 cup of canned black olives (optional)
3 tablespoons of water
Instructions
Place all the ingredients in the food processor and process until smooth and creamy.
Place in a serving dish and sprinkle extra virgin olive oil on top (optional).
Serve with homemade pita chips.
