DIY Family

Christmas Eve Scavenger Hunt

It’s hard for kids to wait until Christmas morning to unwrap their gifts. That’s why, at our house, we like to have a Christmas Eve Scavenger Hunt for the kids. This family tradition, makes Christmas Eve even more special. You don’t need to get expensive gifts, it’s really for the fun of the game and the magic. Kids love to have a little something special to unwrap before the bid day.

We get things like books, a Christmas movies that we can watch right after the scavenger hunt with popcorn, Christmas sleepwear, that way they have a cute PJ for the pictures the next morning.

So, here’s how I do it:

Christmas Eve Scavenger Hunt

I know the above image is in French, but it’s just to give you an idea of how I write the clues on color cards made from cardstock, I then place the clues in individual envelopes with the clue number on the envelope.

Clue #1 :You write on the card: Look somewhere hot, and give this clue to the kids.

Clue #2 : You write on the card: Where daddy likes to hide, and hide the clue in the oven.

Clue #3 : You write on the card: The dogs favorite place to sleep, and hide the clue in the bathroom.

Clue #4 : You write on the card: Where you go when you want to be creative, and hide the clue under the dog’s cushion (or where your dog likes to sleep).

Clue #5 : You write on the card: Where the cat likes to sleep, and hide the clue in the craft chest or craft room.

Clue #6 : You write on the card: Look close to the star, and hide the clue under a pillow on the couch or where your cat likes to sleep.

Clue #7 : You write on the card: Where you like to go to relax right before bed, and hide the clue in the Christmas tree close to the star.

Clue #8 : You write on the card: What mommy uses to work on her blog, and hide the clue where your kids like to relax right before bed, for us it’s in our bedroom.

Clue #9 : You write on the card: Where you need to go before you leave the house, and hide the clue in the laptop or under the computer keyboard.

– Hide your gifts in the coat closet.

This is just to give you examples, I know not everyone has a dog, a cat or a blog, but it’s really easy to change the clues. Just use your imagination.

Hope you and your kids have lots of fun with this Christmas Eve Scavenger Hunt and decide to start a new fun Christmas tradition.
