What to do in the garden in July

Working in the garden in the morning when it’s still a bit cool outside is the best thing to do, and you get a little morning workout at the same time. Here are a few pictures of what my flowers look like today, followed by a complete list of things that need to be done in the garden in the month of July.

What to do in the garden in July
– Trim trees and shrubs that have flowered.
– Trim decorative shrubs and coniferous. 
– Trim dead flowers off rosebushes.
– Fertilize coniferous.
– Protect bottom of clematis.
– Control insects and diseases on trees, shrubs and perennials.
– Cut and water grass (if the weather is hot and dry bring cutting blade up to 8 cm).
– Finish planting annuals and fertilize.
– Fertilize annuals and perennials.
– Support perennials that need support.
– Remove dead flowers from perennials, annuals and summer bulbs.
– Remove and keep the seeds from perennials when ready.
– Weed flower beds.
– Water flower beds, and annuals when needed.
Water flower containers daily.
In the middle of July, plant snapping peas, spinach, winter radishes, curly cabbage, curly lettuce.
– Remove the suckers from tomato plants.
– Support tomato plants.
-Fertilize tomato plants.
– Harvest peas, beans, cucumbers, zucchinis and fresh herbs regularly.
– Control insects and diseases in the garden.
– Weed the garden.
– Water the garden when necessary.
 

That’s not so bad! Remember that if you leave on vacation for a long period of time, you need to have someone come and harvest your vegetables and water your garden and flowers.
