Pan Seared Flank Steak

I love a great steak, my favorite cut is of course filet mignon, but I also really enjoy a pan seared flank steak or a grilled flank steak. Flank steak is a lean cut of meat with lots of flavor. It’s not a tender piece of meat, but with a great marinade it’s one of the tastiest you can have.

Pan Seared Flank Steak

Ingredients

Marinade
2 to 4 small pieces of flank steak (if you have a large piece, cut it in 2 to 4 individual pieces).
1/2 cup of red wine
2 small shallots chopped
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

3 tablespoons of butter
1 tablespoon of olive oil

Instructions

Place the pieces of flank steak in a container and add the wine, shallots, salt and pepper.
Marinate for 1 to 3 hours (the longer the better) turning the meat a few times during the marinating process.

Pan Seared Flank Steak
In a large frying pan, heat the butter and olive oil at medium high heat.
Remove the meat from the marinade and sear for about 5 minutes per sides.

Pan Seared Flank Steak
Place the meat in a plate, cover with aluminum paper and let it rest while you prepare the sauce.

Pan Seared Flank Steak
Add the marinade to the frying pan, simmer for a few minutes, until the marinade starts to reduce.
Serve the flank steak covered with the sauce.
